So many of us begin the new year with a load of promises to ourselves that unravel in a matter of weeks. But I am determined to make this year one where my resolutions stick.
Over the last several months, I have been working on cleaning out my mental closet, through emptying my parents’ home. And this has given me an opportunity to take a trip through my childhood and to let go of some of the physical and emotional rubbish that has weighed me down throughout my life.
This year, I vow to stop suppressing myself. I vow to seek my own opinions and use my own voice, to I learn what I believe and what I feel. I will stand in my own footsteps and step out of others’ shadows.
And I will keep writing about what I learn. I look forward to walking this new path and to sharing my experience with anyone who can benefit from it.
